Assalamu’alaykum 🙂
A few months ago, I posted a review about some new halal restaurants in Japan (https://atashinohanashi.wordpress.com/2015/02/23/new-halal-restaurants-in-japan-review/) and many people seem to find that article helpful, Alhamdulillah. So in this post, I’m going to be reviewing another new halal restaurant plus halal souvenir store in Japan.
Manhattan Fish Market
Access: Ikebukuro Station, address: Sankei 33 Building B1F, 1 Chome-4-2 Higashi-Ikebukuro
Manhattan Fish Market (MFM) is an American style restaurant that has more than 50 branches all over Asia. MFM in Japan is halal certified and no alcohol served, so you can enjoy dining here comfortably. They also have Muslim staff, English menu, and when I was there, I felt like all the staffs were willing to speak English (unlike many other restaurants in Japan). The menus are mostly seafood, but they also have chicken. Check their website here: http://www.manhattanfishmarket.com/japan.html
The place is very cozy, they have many kinds of meals and beverages and they are all very delicious, the staffs are very friendly, I don’t really have any complaint or negative review about this restaurant 😀 I definitely want to come back again next time to try other menus 🙂
Muslim Friendly Facilites at LAOX Shinjuku
After going to MFM, we went to LAOX Shinjuku. For you who doesn’t know what LAOX is, LAOX is a department store that sell many kinds of goods, from electronics to jewelry, from snacks to Japanese traditional crafts, and many more. They provide tax free for tourists, therefore this place is very recommended for you who needs one stop shopping center while traveling to Japan. They have many branches all over Japan, but the one we went to was the one in Shinjuku. Check their website here: http://www.laox.co.jp/en/stores/shinjuku/
Alhamdulillah, this past decades Japan’s government is getting aware and considerate about Muslim’s needs. Here in LAOX Shinjuku, they provide decent corner for praying (seperated between male and female) and designated corner for halal souvenirs. They sell many kinds of halal souvenirs such as snacks, crackers, instant ramen, biscuit, and so on. You don’t have to be worry if you are shopping for halal souvenirs here 🙂
